We've started contacting the 200+ educators who have signed up to receive the film free so they can get the new 10th anniversary download of The Corporation for their classroom. We look forward to hearing their feedback and are excited the campaign to reach #1000schools has officially begun!

That being said, we are still $10,000 away from our goal and need the additional funds if we are to get in touch with schools and educational buyers across North America and hit our 1,000 goal. Every province and state has different curriculum and systems so there is no single way to reach them efficiently, which means rolling up our sleeves and doing it the old fashioned way: hitting the phone lines, emails and networking like mad.

Thanks for all your support in helping us release this new, shorter version of the film and keeping the issue of corporate personhood and power at the forefront. As many of our supporters have been telling us, we believe it is vital that this film reach a whole new generation and counter the increased corporate messaging they are bombarded with every day - even in their very schools.

And for the rest of us, it's time to - as Michael Moore says at the end of the film - "get up off the couch" and take a stand against the pathological pursuit of profit that's putting our very planet at risk.

Support our campaign to get the film free to 1,000 schools. Encourage your educator friends to sign up to get their copy. Give us your feedback on the film including what a sequel should look like.

Save The Link

Our ability to link is under attack, and we need your help to save it!

A brand new leak[1] confirms that legislators in Europe are moving towards rules that would require websites to monitor user activity, and are pushing forward schemes that would give them the power to censor and block links[2] –the basic building blocks of the Web.

This will impact Internet users everywhere. Let’s put a stop to this right now: add your voice to the global network to Save the Link.

The link is what powers many of our favorite online services, and what enables us to stay connected with friends and family from around the world. Simply put, censoring links will break the Internet. Speak out now, and tell public officials that we’ll fight to Save the Link.

You’ve probably seen the campaign to shed light on the Internet censorship plan in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). It’s just one way Big Media is trying to censor the Web–but it’s far from the only way. That’s why we need to continue to grow a huge network of individuals and organizations committed to stopping these censorship plans, wherever they emerge.

Join thousands of Internet users from across the world who have said enough is enough: we have a right to link.

Here’s just one example: a law recently passed in Spain [3] is so extreme that it could result in fines of hundreds of thousands of dollars for... more ››

Help us get the film free into 1,000 schools

Counting our Bitcoin donations, we're 80% of the way to our $50,000 campaign goal!

We'd like to give a special shout-out to the amazing supporters who have helped us raise over $5,000 since the crowdfunding campaign "officially" ended. We apologize to any who haven't been personally thanked yet but we've added everyone to our contributors gratitude page. Please let us know if you would prefer anonymity.

Thanks to all our #OffTheCouch supporters, we have enough to start giving the film away to the first batch of educators who signed up to get the film free. We're hoping this will start seeding discussions about corporate power worldwide, and we encourage anyone who has watched the film to give us feedback.

We're still a long way from our 1,000 schools goal so your continued gifts will really make an impact. Over 200 educators have signed up but imagine if we had 1,000... Multiply that by the number of students who will see the film and pretty soon we're talking about hundreds of thousands of people, all engaging around the issues and moved to do something. That's our dream anyway. Perhaps you'd like to join us?

Tonight Joel Bakan joins KPBS on air to help fundraise and talk about his latest book "Childhood Under Seige" as part of a special fundraising broadcast of the film.

We're thrilled that even after a decade has gone by, the film is still relevant and reaching out to new audiences. Check out the short video we did with Joel and supporters of the film about why the film still matters!

Where you able to watch the KPBS broadcast? What do you think?  Let us know why you think the film still matters -- if you do -- and support KPBS and our campaign.

We've just launched our new website using Drupal. Thank you Sandy Haksi for all your hard work! Check out the new site and please let us know if you find any bugs! Are there features we've missed? Suggestions?

With Canadian and US elections just around the corner, corporations will be pushing hard for candidates and legislation which benefit them. Please let us know if you hear of interesting groups or strategies opposing corporate influence in our elections.

This vivid and often mesmerizing film lifts the veil from one of the most important and least understood features of modern age: the extraordinary powers that have been bestowed on virtually unaccountable private tyrannies, required by law to act in ways that severely undermine democracy and the most elementary human rights, and that pose a serious threat even to survival.
